Dog Sledding

Experience winter at its finest as family and friends discover the adventure of dog sledding! Traverse through the wilderness or along a local lake. We've partnered with several area mushers in order to be able to create a combination of sledding experiences that will meet everyone's outdoor adventure expectations!

Mushing Adventure:
Our most popular trip, this winter excursion can be coordinated to include a full (approximately 6 hours) or half day (approximately 4 hours) of mushing. A full day excursion includes a shore lunch. Both trips include an experienced wilderness guide who will provide guests with an introduction to dog sledding. A typical outing places two guests on each sled-one person rides while the other mushes. Be sure to bring along a camera as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. Your guide will meet you at the trail head.

Premier Day Trips:
This single day excursion includes full instruction, a guide, gear and a hot lunch. Your trip will cover between 20 and 40 miles of scenic lakes and trails. On a Premier Day Trip each participant mushes their own sled and you are able to get out into the wilderness for about six hours. Your guide will meet you at the trail head where your adventure begins.

Ice Fishing and Mushing Adventure:
This full day winter excursion combines the best of two winter favorites: ice fishing trip and mushing! Suggested destinations include Wood, Basswood, Knife, Ima, Perch, Whisper and Thomas Lakes. Your excursion includes a shore lunch, fishing equipment, bait and an experienced wilderness guide. A typical outing places two guests on each sled-one person rides while the other mushes. Your guide will meet you at the trail head.

Lodge-based Rides on Bear Island Lake:
This mushing event is a wonderful way to introduce a young family to dog sledding or simply experience what it feels like to be part of a dog sled excursion. Each ride is approximately 15-20 minutes and guests will ride along the shores of Bear Island Lake. Typically, our musher will have two dog teams here at the resort for this event. Guests can interact with the dogs. Great photo opportunity for Mom and Dad.
