The Minneapolis
Star Tribune calls Bear Island Lake "one of the prettiest
lakes in the North County."
Bear Island
Lake contains good numbers of walleyes, northern, smallmouth
bass and also its share of panfish. Our clearwater lake is a
structure fisherman's dream.
The lake is
approximately 2,400 acres and is about 4 miles long and 2 miles
wide. This lake is dotted with 20+ islands and as a result of
a recent land trade the 110 acre Bear Island is now public land.
The water near the island is just over 70' deep. The lake is
full of bays and interesting shoreline opportunities to enhance
your fishing and paddling experience as you seek out Walleyes,
Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth
Bass, Northern Pike, Crappies
and a variety of pan fish (click any of these links for basic
fishing tips). We encourage Catch & Release and Leave No Trace.
There are NO
motor size or fishing slot limits on Bear Island Lake.

Fishing
Boats:
All of our
traditional fishing boats are 16' Alumnacraft boats with 3
bench seats, each is equipped with a 9.9hp or 15hp Johnson
motor, a full tank of gas, oars and an anchor. Free lake maps
will be provided at check in.
Remember
to purchase your fishing license before you arrive at the
resort or on-line with the Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources.

Guests
with their own boats may dock at their cabin's assigned
dock. Electricity is available at/near each of our docks
for our guests to use during their stay. There is a $25
docking fee for guests who bring their own boat. Please
let us know in advance if you are bringing your own boat.
The boat launch ramp is adjacent to the resort on Escape
Road.
